About Me
Ronnie Pattison - Professional Artist

LANDSCAPE OIL PAINTINGS

This oil painting of the Millennium eye bridge on the river Tyne is almost like technical drawing but in oils and this painting really pushed me to my limits. The original oil painting is on a canvas, size 24″ x 18 ” and took over 250 hours to complete in 2002.

Over the years I have painted many landscapes and townscapes. I love going up to Bamburgh, Alnwick and Lindisfarne taking photographs then creating my paintings from my photos. Other favourites I have painted are The Angel of the North, Durham Cathedral, Saltwell Park, St.Mary’s Lighthouse, Newcastle United ground and the bridges over the Tyne.

I also sell prints from my oil paintings of North East scenes from my shop in Low Fell, along with greeting cards and blank cards. My cards and prints of Newcastle and the North East get sent all around the world to friends and families who used to live here.

I very rarely sell the original oil paintings of the bridges over the Tyne because I get so attached to them and they take so long to paint, however I do occasionally take commissions on for these so please ask for details or see my prices page.

ANIMAL PORTRAIT OIL PAINTINGS

I love doing the oil paintings of animal portraits. Every dog, cat, horse or pet is so unique and therefore it excites me every time they come to life from the canvas.

The trickiest part is getting a good photograph of your pet. We can also help with that if you are struggling as I am also a professional photographer with a photography studio upstairs in our greeting card shop at Low fell. I always believe the better the photograph is, the better your original oil painting is going to be.

Unfortunately 50 percent of the pets I have painted have sadly passed away and consequently my customers who commission me to do the painting are heartbroken when their best friend has gone.

Pets become a part of the family and I can remember when our family dog Laddie sadly passed away when I was aged just 16. I had known him all my childhood and I was heartbroken because nothing could ever replace him, but I wished I had a good photo of him so I could do an oil painting of him to treasure forever.

COMMISSIONS

If you have a favourite place or an animal you would like transformed into a stunning oil painting on canvas, all I need is a good photograph. The better the photograph, the better your oil painting will be. Don’t worry if there are things in the photo you don’t want in the painting because I can take them out. Lots of my customers like a plain background when getting a painting of their pet.

Barney & Bailey – Pet Portrait

My friends look after my dog Darcy when we go away, they have two dogs so this was an ideal gift for them. From choosing the picture to the finished painting the service was fantastic. When I gave my friends the painting they could not believe the likeness and put it pride of place in their house.

I have known Ronnie for a while now as I buy my cards from his card shop. I have a dog who is my best friend but he isn't getting any younger and have always fancied an oil painting of him. I trusted Ronnie to do a good job and he didn't let me down, I think the painting was great value for money and Ronnie has really captured my Bobby.

It is lovely to have my best pal on canvas. From ordering the painting to the end I was able to follow each exciting stage. Ronnie was very friendly and helpful and put me at ease throughout. When looking around for prices I found Ron-Art very reasonable.

One for Arthur – Animal Portrait

My name is Arthur and I love horse racing, so when One for Arthur won the Grand National I just had to have the moment captured in oils. Ronnie Pattison was recommended to me by my friend who was a security guard in the Metrocentre, he knew Ronnie when he had his shop there. When I received my finished oil painting I could not have been any happier. It has pride of place on my mantle piece. It looks so real and I can't thank Ronnie enough.
